From the Spiritual Assembly
Allah’u’Abha! Dear friends,
The Bahá'í Faith, a global religion founded in the mid-19th century, is centered on the belief in the oneness of humanity and the unity of all religions. Its aim is to establish a peaceful and just world civilization, fostering harmony and cooperation among all peoples. The Bahá'í Faith envisions a world where people from diverse backgrounds work together towards common goals, transcending divisions and prejudices. One of the key strategies to achieve this vision is through the implementation of the Nine Year Plan.
At the heart of the Bahá'í Faith lies a profound purpose: to build a world characterized by unity, justice, and prosperity for all. Bahá'u'lláh, the Prophet-Founder of the Bahá'í Faith, taught that humanity is one and that the true purpose of life is to recognize and develop spiritual qualities and virtues that will lead to the advancement of society.
Central to the Bahá'í teachings is the principle of the oneness of religion. Bahá'ís believe that throughout history, God has sent divine Messengers, such as Krishna, Moses, Buddha, Jesus, Muhammad, and Bahá'u'lláh, to guide humanity's progress. Each Messenger brings a message appropriate for the time and place in which they appear. The Bahá'í Faith represents the latest stage in the unfolding of God's plan for humanity, and its mission is to foster unity among all people and to establish lasting peace and justice.
To achieve its purpose, the Bahá'í Faith has embarked on various plans and initiatives aimed at fostering unity and community development. The current plan the Bahá'í Faith is embarking on is the Nine Year Plan.
A Single Aim: The Release of the Society-Building Power of the Faith in Ever-Greater Measures:
At the heart of the Nine Year Plan lies a single aim: to release the society-building power of the Bahá'í Faith in ever-greater measures. This aim reflects the Bahá'í belief that the teachings of our Faith contain the transformative power to shape and uplift communities, creating a world founded on unity, justice, and cooperation.
To accomplish this, the Nine Year Plan emphasizes several key elements:
- Spiritual Transformation: The Nine Year Plan encourages individuals to develop spiritual qualities such as love, compassion, and justice. By nurturing our inner spiritual lives, we can become effective agents of positive change in our communities.
- Community Building: Bahá'í communities are encouraged to engage in community-building activities that foster unity, cooperation, and the welfare of all members. These activities include devotional gatherings, children's classes, junior youth empowerment programs, and study circles.
- Social Action: The Plan urges us to participate actively in efforts to promote social and economic development in their neighborhoods and beyond. By collaborating with like-minded organizations and individuals, we seek to address issues like poverty, education, health, and the environment.
- Capacity Building: The Nine Year Plan prioritizes the development of human resources within Bahá'í communities. Capacity building encompasses educational programs, leadership training, and fostering a culture of learning and consultation.
The Nine Year Plan is a comprehensive and dynamic framework that empowers us to contribute to the betterment of society. By striving to release the society-building power of our Faith, we are working towards a world characterized by unity, justice, and harmony. As we continue to implement the Nine Year Plan, it is important to remain committed to the vision of a unified global civilization where all people live in peace and mutual respect.
