From the Spiritual Assembly

Allah’u’Abha! Dear friends,

We wish to share with you the profound spiritual blessings that arise from giving to the Baha'i Fund and the significance of universal participation in this sacred endeavor.

Throughout history, the act of giving has held a special place in the hearts of humankind. It is an expression of our innate compassion and desire to uplift others. Within the Baha'i Faith, the act of giving takes on a deeper meaning, transcending mere charity and becoming a spiritual duty and privilege. When we contribute to the Baha'i Fund, we become part of a global endeavor to advance the unification of the human race, as envisioned by Baha'u'llah, the Manifestation of God for this age.

The spiritual blessings that flow from giving to the Baha'i Fund are manifold. Firstly, it serves as a potent means of detachment from material possessions. Baha'u'llah reminds us that "the earth is but one country and mankind its citizens." By contributing to the Fund, we consciously detach ourselves from the illusion of separateness and recognize our interconnectedness as one human family.

Moreover, giving to the Baha'i Fund fosters a spirit of selflessness and sacrifice. In this act, we are called to emulate the noble example set forth by the Bab, Baha'u'llah, and 'Abdu'l-Baha, who offered everything in the service of humanity. When we follow their footsteps and open our hearts to the needs of the world, we transform our giving into a spiritual act, elevating it beyond the ordinary.

Universal participation is an essential aspect of this process. Baha'u'llah calls for the "universal participation of all people in the affairs of the world and in the common concerns of humanity." Every individual, regardless of their material circumstances, is encouraged to contribute to the Fund according to their means. It is not the size of the gift that matters, but the sincerity of the giver's heart and the unity of purpose that binds us together.

The principle of universal participation is not merely about financial contributions; it extends to all facets of our lives. Each one of us is called to play an active role in building a more just and unified society. As we engage in acts of service, both great and small, we participate in the betterment of the world and draw closer to our Creator.

Through universal participation in giving to the Baha'i Fund, we also witness the fruits of our collective efforts. The contributions we make to the Fund are channeled towards advancing the spiritual and material progress of communities worldwide, promoting education, alleviating poverty, and fostering social harmony.

Our relationship with the Bahá’í Fund is an intimate, private one connected to our relationship with the Faith itself. This concept has very practical implications for the individual believer. If, as we know, we will never be subjected to any compulsion to give or be instructed on how much to give, then it becomes the responsibility of each and every one of us to keep abreast of the needs of the Faith. This implies that we all have a basic understanding of how the fund operates at different levels of the Baha’i community, from the local to the international. It suggests, as well, that we maintain an awareness of the expanding financial needs of the Baha’i community at all levels as it progresses through successive stages of growth.

Dear friends, let us wholeheartedly embrace the spiritual blessings that arise from giving to the Baha'i Fund and the transformative power of universal participation. As we come together in unity, with our hearts attuned to the needs of humanity, we contribute to the fulfillment of Baha'u'llah's vision of a world united in love and fellowship.

With warmest regards and prayers for your continued dedication and service,

The Spiritual Assembly of the Bahá’ís of South Kohala
