From the Spiritual Assembly

Allah’u’Abha! Dear friends,

As we move through the month of Mulk (Dominion), we look forward with joyful anticipation to the upcoming intercalary days. From sunset on Tuesday, February 24, until sunset on Sunday, March 1, our community will enter the wondrous season of Ayyám-i-Há.
These "Days of Há" are a unique gift from Bahá’u’lláh—a sacred interlude in the Bahá’í calendar dedicated to hospitality, charity, and the celebration of God’s limitless bounty. They serve as a joyful bridge, allowing us to refresh our spirits and strengthen our friendships before we enter the period of the Fast.

Embracing the Blessings of the Season

Ayyám-i-Há invites us to manifest the spirit of generosity in our homes and neighborhoods. As we look ahead to these five days of celebration, let us reflect on how we can best share these blessings:
  • Hospitality of the Heart: Whether hosting a large gathering or a quiet tea, let us open our doors with the "warmth of the love of God," making every guest feel the true spirit of inclusion.
  • Acts of Service and Charity: Bahá’u’lláh specifically enjoined us to provide for the "poor and needy." We encourage everyone to look for local opportunities in South Kohala to extend a helping hand to those in our wider community.
  • Gift-Giving and Joy: While gifts are a cherished tradition, the greatest gift we offer is our time, our kindness, and our "joy and exultation" in glorifying our Lord.

Looking Toward the Fast

By fully immersing ourselves in the festivities of Ayyám-i-Há, we prepare our souls for the spiritual discipline of the Fast that begins on March 2. This period of celebration is the fuel that sustains our inner light as we turn toward a time of deeper reflection and prayer.

"It behooveth the people of Baha, throughout these days, to provide good cheer for themselves, their kindred and, beyond them, the poor and needy, and with joy and exultation to hail and glorify their Lord..." — Bahá’u’lláh

May your upcoming Ayyám-i-Há be filled with laughter that echoes from the mountains to the sea, and may the bonds of our community grow ever stronger in this season of love.

With warmest regards and loving thoughts,
The Spiritual Assembly of the Bahá’ís of South Kohala

A digital image displays the beginning of a letter. At the top, centered in a slightly larger font, are the words "THE UNIVERSAL HOUSE OF JUSTICE". Below this, right-aligned, is the date "Riḍván 2025". The salutation follows, left-aligned: "To the Baháʼís of the World" and then, on the next line, "Dearly loved Friends,". The body of the letter begins with the paragraph: "With but a year remaining before the first phase of the Nine Year Plan concludes, we are eager to report on its progress—how, through shining examples of noble endeavour, the vision offered by the Faith is filling more and more hearts with hope." The text is presented in a clear, readable serif font on a white background.

LISTEN TO IT

A stylized image with a dreamy, slightly blurred background of soft blue and white roses and dark green foliage features prominent text. Centered and in a large, elegant white font are the words "RIDVAN MESSAGE". Slightly below and to the right, in a smaller white font, is the year "2025". At the very top center, there is a small, rounded rectangle with a teal background containing a series of vertical white lines of varying heights, resembling a soundwave or equalizer. The overall aesthetic is soft, serene, and suggestive of a formal announcement or greeting related to the year 2025.

Musical Selection for the Kids!

Tempered Sword is an upbeat EDM children's song inspired by the Bahá’í Teachings and the Hidden Words by 'Bahá’u’lláh: "O MY SERVANT! Thou art even as a finely tempered sword concealed in the darkness of its sheath and its value hidden from the artificer’s knowledge. Wherefore come forth from the sheath of self and desire that thy worth may be made resplendent and manifest unto all the world.."

One hour continuous ethereal modern house music featuring the Baha'i writings. The Hidden Words is written as a collection of 153 short aphorisms, 71 in Arabic and 82 in Persian, in which Bahaʼu'llah says he has taken the basic essence of certain spiritual truths and written them in brief form.
This 1-hour of continuous music includes Hidden Words 20 to 42 in Arabic.
ʻAbdu'l-Baha, Bahaʼu'llah's son and the authorized interpreter of his teachings, advised Bahaʼis to read the Hidden Words every day and every night and to unlock their latent wisdom in their daily lives. National hearing examines efforts to address societal violence

BRASÍLIA, Brazil — When the absence of war can sometimes be mistaken for the presence of peace, a gathering of government officials, academics, and civil society leaders in Brazil’s Chamber of Deputies considered a question that has grown more pressing over four decades: What does it truly take to build lasting peace?

The commemorative gathering was recently convened by the Commission on Human Rights, Minorities and Racial Equality, at the request of Member of Congress Luiz Couto to mark the 40th anniversary of The Promise of World Peace, a statement addressed to the peoples of the world by the Universal House of Justice. The document, released in 1985 amid Cold War tensions, offered a vision of peace grounded in the fundamental recognition of humanity’s oneness.
This image is a horizontal collage divided into three distinct sections, featuring the Azerbaijani text "İki Yüz İllik Gizli Tarix" (Two Hundred Years of Secret History) in a green, italicized serif font across the center. Top Section: A faded, black-and-white historical photograph of a large, diverse group of people—men, women, and children—posed in rows, likely from the early 20th century. Middle Section: A wide, sepia-toned landscape shot of an ancient stone structure or graveyard with large, weathered headstones overlooking a distant city or plain under a bright sky. Bottom Section: A modern, full-color photograph of a large group of people standing outdoors in a field, representing a contemporary generation.

Film explores Bahá’í contributions to Azerbaijani society

BAKU, Azerbaijan — When 500 people filled the Nizami Cinema Center for the premiere of Two Hundred Years of Hidden History, they came to discover a chapter of their country’s past that had remained largely unknown despite its deep impact on Azerbaijan’s cultural development.

The documentary, directed by Kamala Musazade, traces the Bahá’í community’s journey in Azerbaijan through personal accounts and scholarly commentary. Among the participants at the screening were journalists, artists, poets, musicians, and government representatives—a gathering that reflected the broad interest in understanding how this community contributed to aspects of the country’s social development.
A graphic book or document cover titled "Coordination for the Common Good" in a dark blue serif font. Design: The background features a textured gradient of teal, yellow, and white, with stylized, overlapping geometric shapes and fine white curved lines that suggest movement or architectural sails. Text: Below the main title is a subtitle in smaller, light-colored capital letters: "COORDINATING INSTITUTIONAL PARTICIPANTS IN COMMUNITY ACTION AND INDIVIDUAL INITIATIVE." Footer: Small white text at the very bottom indicates this is a statement or document from the "Baha’i International Community" regarding social development.

Institutions, communities, and individuals advancing the common good

BIC NEW YORK — Across many societies, efforts towards social progress are revealing a recurring challenge that often goes unexamined: how the relationships that hold societies together are conceived and nurtured. In many contexts, interactions among institutions, communities, and individuals have become marked by tension, falling levels of trust, or transactional expectations—patterns that weaken social cohesion and limit collective capacity.

In this context, the Bahá’í International Community (BIC) released a new statement, “Coordination for the Common Good: Governing Institutions in Partnership with Community Action and Individual Initiative,” ahead of the 64th session of the United Nations Commission for Social Development (CSocD), which began this week at United Nations Headquarters in New York.
