From the Spiritual Assembly

Allah’u’Abha! Dear friends,

As we approach the joyous season of Riḍván, the holiest festival in the Bahá’í calendar, we extend our warmest greetings to you and your loved ones. This sacred time is a period of celebration, reflection, and renewal, as we commemorate the days when Bahá’u’lláh declared His Mission and ushered in a new era of unity and peace for humanity.

The Riḍván Festival marks the twelve days in 1863 when Bahá’u’lláh resided in the Garden of Riḍván, on the outskirts of Baghdad. It was there that He announced to a small group of His followers that He was the Promised One foretold in the Holy Scriptures of past religions. This declaration signified the emergence of the Bahá’í Faith as an independent world religion, dedicated to the principles of love, justice, and the oneness of humankind.

As we prepare to celebrate this Most Great Festival, let us take this time to reflect on Bahá’u’lláh’s teachings and renew our commitment to service and unity. Riḍván is also the season for electing our Local and National Spiritual Assemblies, ensuring that the administration of our affairs is conducted with consultation, sincerity, and devotion.
We invite you to join us in the upcoming Riḍván celebrations, where we will come together in prayer, fellowship, and joy. May these sacred days bring blessings and inspiration, and may we all strive to embody the divine virtues that Bahá’u’lláh has called upon us to uphold.

With warmest regards and loving thoughts,
The Spiritual Assembly of the Bahá’ís of South Kohala

P.S. Please join us for the Annual Meeting & Election, Saturday, April 19th, at Oh Ohana's home at 6:30-8:30.

Musical Selection for the Kids!

Enkindle is an upbeat children's song inspired by a quote from the Bahá’í Teachings, "Be ye enkindled, O people, with the heat of the love of God, that ye may enkindle the hearts of others."

Music Selection

Lovers of the Bab

The following song was created with inspiration from the following quote,
“We behold, as we survey the episodes of this first act of a sublime drama,
the figure of its Master Hero, the Báb, arise meteor-like above the horizon of
Shíráz, traverse the somber sky of Persia from south to north, decline with
tragic swiftness, and perish in a blaze of glory. We see His satellites, a galaxy
of God-intoxicated heroes, mount above that same horizon, irradiate that same incandescent light, burn themselves out with that self-same swiftness, and impart in their turn an added impetus to the steadily gathering momentum of God’s nascent Faith. . . ."

United Arab Emirates: Recognizing youth as protagonists of social change

ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates — The 2nd International Dialogue of Civilizations and Tolerance Conference held recently in Abu Dhabi explored the vital part that youth can play in building a more cohesive and peaceful society.

“Increasingly it is youth who, less encumbered by outmoded ways of thinking, recognize that the human race is one and its populations are interdependent,” stated David Rutstein, Secretary-General of the Bahá’í International Community, in his address to a plenary session.

The flags are in front of a modern glass building with a curved facade, which appears to be the European Parliament or another EU institution. The sunlight reflects off the glass, enhancing the vibrant colors of the flags.

BIC Brussels: Statement calls for new European approach to societal unity

BIC BRUSSELS — The Brussels Office of the Bahá’í International Community (BIC) has released a statement outlining several principles that it suggests could inform European Union (EU) policies and societal approaches to combating racism.

The statement, titled “Towards A European Union Anti-Racism Strategy,” comes as the EU deliberates on the next phase of its anti-racism efforts, nearly five years after the launch of its first-ever Anti-Racism Action Plan 2020–2025. That plan was introduced in the wake of global demonstrations in 2020 calling for racial justice.

In Conversation: Podcast explores spiritual foundations of equality of women and men

BAHÁ’Í WORLD CENTRE — In the latest Bahá’í World News Service podcast episode, representatives from the Addis Ababa, Brussels, Cairo, and New York Offices of the Bahá’í International Community (BIC) reflected on the advancement of women and the spiritual foundations of equality.

“In the past 50 years or so, we have seen an advancement in the status of women and girls,” explained Bani Dugal from the New York Office. “But on the flip side, we are seeing a pushback. Even in countries where we see a lot of what one call is equality, we are seeing a rise in violence against women.”
