From the Spiritual Assembly

Allah’u’Abha! Dear friends,

We are writing to you today to emphasize the profound importance of our upcoming Bahá'í Reflection Gathering, which is a vital component of our spiritual and community life. Through this gathering, we have the opportunity to enhance our understanding of the Bahá'í Faith and its teachings, to take meaningful action in our local and global communities, and to engage in deep reflection on our individual and collective journeys.

There are three areas of importance we would like to look at today.

  1. Plan: In the Bahá'í Reflection Gathering, the planning aspect plays a crucial role. It is an opportunity for us to come together and chart a course for our community's growth and development. Through consultation and guidance from the Universal House of Justice, we can collectively set goals, identify strategies, and make a concrete plan of action. This planning phase allows us to align our efforts with the teachings of Bahá'u'lláh and contribute to the betterment of the world. By setting clear objectives, we can channel our energies in a purposeful direction and work more effectively towards our common goals.
  2. Action: The Bahá'í Faith calls us to not only believe but to act upon our beliefs. This gathering offers us the platform to put our plans into action. Through collective endeavors, we can engage in activities that foster unity, advance education, promote social justice, and serve the needs of our community. Our Faith is a dynamic force for positive change, and through our actions, we can make a real impact in the lives of those around us. Whether it's contributing to the well-being of our neighbors, participating in social projects, or organizing educational initiatives, our actions are a tangible expression of our beliefs.
  3. Reflect: The reflection aspect of the gathering is equally vital. In the midst of our busy lives, it is essential to take a step back and contemplate our spiritual journey. Through prayer, meditation, and deep conversation, we can reflect on our personal growth, our relationships, and our understanding of the Bahá'í Faith. This introspective process allows us to refine our motives, rectify our actions, and draw closer to the divine teachings. Moreover, reflecting on our collective experiences helps us learn from our successes and challenges, ensuring that we continuously evolve and adapt in our efforts to serve humanity.
In conclusion, the Bahá'í Reflection Gathering is an invaluable opportunity for us to come together, plan our actions, and reflect on our spiritual journeys. It is through these three interwoven aspects that we can build a vibrant, purpose-driven community, guided by the principles of the Bahá'í Faith and committed to the betterment of the world.

We look forward to your active participation and the energy and ideas you will bring to this gathering. Together, we can truly make a difference and contribute to the advancement of the Bahá'í Faith and the betterment of society.

Paradise - Music Inspired by the Heroes Teaching Conference

'Music inspired by the Heroes Teaching Conference' is a collection of songs inspired by and recorded in light of 'The Heroes Teaching Conference' (6-7 April, 2019). The conference was a historic gathering of over 1,000 Baha'i and like-minded friends from all over Southern Queensland and Northern New South Wales, Australia.

Organized by the Regional Baha'i Council and Board of Counsellors, the program aimed to help its participants find their place in service to Baha’u’llah and humanity, by drawing on the heroism of the past, inspiring them to arise, through humble service, and become heroes of the Faith for this age.

What Is Self-Reflection and Why Is it Important?

The Baha’i writings say, “One hour’s reflection is preferable to seventy years of pious worship.” The Merriam-Webster dictionary defines self-reflection as “careful thought about your own behavior and beliefs.” It means taking the time to look inward and assess your total well-being.

You might ask yourself what thoughts often cause you to feel certain emotions or what decisions helped or hurt you in the past year. And in doing so, you become more in touch with yourself and achieve greater self-awareness and understanding.

Reflection, Planning and Action in Our Daily Lives

As the activities of the Baha’i community have grown and developed in complexity, a pattern of action has emerged. Baha’is all around the world are engaged in cycles of activity that are guided by reflection, planning and action. This creates a collective rhythm and unifies a diversity of activities, such as devotional meetings, children’s classes and study circles.

I learned from the fifth book in Ruhi Institute sequence of courses, Releasing the Powers of Junior Youth, that living an integrated life means placing service at the centre and integrating other facets around it. To me, this means that we can benefit from using these three capacities and can add the rhythm of reflection-planning-action to our personal lives. In addition to service, we can also focus on other things we wish to include and develop in our daily lives.

Overcoming racism: Fostering social cohesion at the grassroots in Sweden

STOCKHOLM, Sweden — Can a society truly progress when its citizens live side by side yet worlds apart, their daily lives marked more by parallel existence than meaningful interaction? Amid rising concern over racial injustice across Europe, a recent seminar in Stockholm addressed this question, exploring the importance of fostering social harmony at the grassroots.

The seminar was co-organized by the Brussels Office of the Bahá’í International Community (BIC), the Deputy and Vice Mayors of Stockholm, and Sweden’s Bahá’í Office of External Affairs.
